What do I do when someone dies?

Firstly, we're deeply sorry for your loss. When someone passes away, it can be difficult to know what to do next.

If your loved one has passed away at home, you'll need to contact a doctor to confirm the death and issue the necessary certificates. If they were in a hospital or aged care facility, the staff will guide you through the first steps.

Once this has been done, you can call our Narooma team at any time — day or night. We'll explain what happens next in clear, straightforward terms and arrange to bring your loved one into our care.

Hear from our families

Dealing with Karen Brown made the whole experience so easy.

She has a lovely style, profession yet caring.  She broke down each step so that it wasn't too overwhelming for me.  She guided me through so many decisions.  I felt I was in good hands.  I also like the fact that I wasn't dealing with different people, and that Karen was my go to person.

Carla B November 2025

Good service and a good understanding of our needs at a terrible time in our life.

Karen G. July 2025

Compassionate people to deal with at such a hard and confronting time.
